Candles can bring a romantic, evocative fragrance and a warm atmosphere to your home. However, many widely used candles are made from paraffin wax extracted from petroleum, chemical distillates, petroleum black, and the like. Candles made from natural soy extracts tend to burn more cleanly and last longer. Other candles containing beeswax and palm oil are generally safer than paraffin.
The following is a brief summary of the differences between paraffin-based and soy-based candles:
At the dinner table: the chemical released by the paraffin candle can overwhelm the aroma of the food. Unscented soy candles burn longer and do not interfere with the smell or taste of the food you enjoy.
From the sustainability of energy: unlike paraffin extracted from non-renewable oil, soybean is a renewable resource. From the perspective of energy use, if possible, choose brands that use sustainable soybeans.
Air quality: All-natural soy candles, which burn cleaner, produce far less smoke than paraffin. This gives your home a better overall air quality.
Cleanliness: Soy is biodegradable, so if it is splashed on tablecloths or clothes, it tends to be easier to clean than paraffin.
Burning: Soybeans are usually burnt cleaner than paraffin; candles made from beeswax and palm oil produce less smoke than paraffin. In addition, according to the British [Daily Mail” report: Many paraffin candles contain synthetic fragrances and dyes that, when heated, emit harmful particulate matter.
Recycling: Soy candles are non-toxic, renewable and recyclable. Alternatively, you can reuse the soy candles in the glass container.
Fragrance: Because soy candles burn slowly, they allow them to release multiple hours of essential oils, using a mild, diffuse scent rather than a powerful explosive synthetic fragrance. Look for candles that are derived from plants and flowers or “aromatherapy”.
Cost: Although soy candles tend to be expensive, they tend to burn for quite some time. Soy candles often win when you factor in burning time
